2024 Genesis G80 Oil Filter
Genesis Oil Filter service at Genesis of Peoria in Peoria, AZ Frequently Asked QuestionsFrequently Asked Questions
6 common questions answered
Is the oil filter replaced every time a 2024 Genesis G80 has its oil changed? The oil filter should be replaced when the 2024 Genesis G80’s maintenance schedule calls for an oil and filter service.
Replacing the filter with the oil service removes the debris the filter has collected instead of carrying that loaded filter forward. The manufacturer’s schedule and the vehicle’s service history determine the appropriate maintenance timing.
- Filter matched to the engine’s specification
- Drain plug gasket or washer renewed where applicable
- Filter seal checked for leaks after the engine runs
What is included in an oil filter replacement on a 2024 Genesis G80?An oil filter replacement on the 2024 Genesis G80 includes a correctly matched filter, a renewed drain plug gasket or washer where used, and a post-run leak check.
The filter is selected for this engine rather than treated as a universal component. After installation, the engine is run so the filter seal can be checked under operating conditions. This confirms that the service area remains sealed after the work is completed.
- Engine-specific oil filter fitment
- New drain plug sealing component where the engine uses one
- Inspection for leaks at the filter seal
What happens if the oil filter on a 2024 Genesis G80 is not replaced? If the 2024 Genesis G80’s oil filter becomes loaded and is not replaced, its bypass valve can open and allow unfiltered oil to circulate.
A loaded filter does not stop the engine from getting oil; it stops the engine from getting filtered oil. That makes filter replacement an important part of oil service when called for by the manufacturer’s schedule. The vehicle’s service history and an inspection help determine the next appropriate service.
- Collected debris remains in the old filter
- The bypass valve may open when the filter loads
- Oil can circulate without filtration
Does a 2024 Genesis G80 need a specific oil filter?Yes, the filter must be matched to the 2024 Genesis G80 engine, and filters are not interchangeable across engines.
The G80 engine range includes four- to six-cylinder engines with displacement from 2,497 to 3,470 cc. A filter matched to the particular engine supports the intended fit and filtration function without requiring a part number or filter specification. Genesis of Peoria can perform the fitment as part of the oil filter service.
- Engine range: four to six cylinders
- Displacement range: 2,497 to 3,470 cc
- Filter selected for the engine being serviced
Can the oil be changed on a 2024 Genesis G80 without changing the filter?Oil can be changed separately, but the 2024 Genesis G80’s filter should be replaced when the maintenance schedule calls for an oil and filter service.
The filter holds debris carried away by the oil, so leaving a loaded filter in place can allow the bypass valve to open and send unfiltered oil through the engine. The manufacturer’s schedule, inspection findings, and service history determine the appropriate combination of services.
- Filter condition affects the next service decision
- A loaded filter may allow unfiltered circulation
- Oil and filter service addresses both lubrication and filtration
